It looks like the world’s nowhere close to stopping Mariel from making her dreams a reality. At only the age of 14, she’s already gone on tour and released an EP. With an impressive following on various social media platforms, there’s no doubt that she has amazing supporters as well.
We chatted to Mariel about her career, touring, and the EP!
What made you want to get serious about music?
Growing up, I always had a song in my head. I was constantly performing in musicals and talent shows. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Of all the songs you’ve covered, which song did you enjoy covering the most?
I really love my cover of ‘Hide Away’ by Daya. I just had the best time making it and it really shows in the final product.

Is there an artist who you’d like to collaborate with someday?
Taylor Swift would be amazing. She is one of my biggest influences. Justin Bieber of course too – he is so talented and it would be an honor to work with him.
So far, what’s been the most memorable moment of your musical career?
I got the opportunity to perform at a Knicks halftime show at Madison Square Garden when I was younger which was so surreal and incredible. Also, filming the music video for my single ‘EPIC’ was one of the best days of my life. My adrenaline was sky high, I never wanted the night to end.

We hear you’ve just wrapped up your “Campified” tour where you performed kids all over the U.S. What was your favourite part of the tour?
It’s the best feeling to feel the energy from the crowd and connect with them as I perform.
What impact do you hope your music had on the kids you performed for on the “Campified” tour?
I hope that the kids could resonate with my lyrics and feel like they are not alone if they are going through something similar. I also really hope my music and performance made them feel good and have a blast.
If you could pick one city anywhere in the world to stop at on tour, where would it be and why?
I would be so honored to kick off my tour in the city of lights, the city I consider my second home, New York City! I have been working in NYC for the past 5 years recording my music, doing my photo shoots, etc. I love the energy and the people. To get more specific, I would love to kick off my tour at Radio City Music Hall.
I have visited Radio City during the holidays almost every year since I was a toddler to see the Rockettes perform at the Christmas Spectacular. When I was a little girl before I even started on my music journey, I can remember staring up at the stage and envisioning performing there. I was so little… but I remember telling my mother that “someday I want to be on that stage!”
What did you enjoy the most about putting together your new EP “Make it EPIC”?
Going into the studio and seeing all of the lyrics and ideas come together to make a song. It’s such a fulfilling feeling.
Are there any lyrics from a song on the EP that really stick with you?
My favorite line really resonates with where I’m at in my career – “let’s start our story, make it stick.” I am definitely starting my story… My music story. I want to make it stick. I want people to see that I’m here to stay. I am excited keep my story going by creating more music, writing, singing, recording and performing. This is the beginning of my story and I’m going to make every second count.
Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
Thank you so much for the support – It means the world to me! You’re the reason I can do what I love. This is just the beginning. I hope you’re all enjoying the EP and single. I can’t wait to take my music on the road and see you all soon.
